Will it work at -30°C?

Many smart devices are tested for mild climates. This page lists the low temperature each maker states for locks, cameras and doorbells that sit near the cold, so you can match them to your winter.

How to read this

  • The range is the one the manufacturer publishes. It is not a promise. Below it a device may stop working or lose battery quickly.
  • Cold snaps in many parts of Canada can reach -30°C or lower, so a -20°C rating can fall short on the coldest days there.
  • Batteries lose capacity in the cold. For battery devices, keep spares and plan to charge or swap them indoors.
  • Only devices that sit outdoors or on an exterior door are listed. Products we have not checked against a spec sheet are not rated here.
